Exercise is a great thing. Between endorphins, getting in shape, and being healthy, exercise is overall a pretty respectable activity to partake in. Many of us make a point of doing it on a daily basis, and even more of us are looking for motivation to do it. Fortunately, there are a lot of events that change the world that cause us to get in shape. These help us by helping them raise money for a variety of great causes. So, I thought I would highlight a few organizations that hold physical exertion- related fundraisers that you can participate in.
In cities all across America…
1. The MS 150 from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
I did this 2 day bike ride for the first time when I was 12, and it has the best support crew! They make riding your bike 150 miles actually fun. And, they hook you up with someone that actually has MS to be your partner in hope for the ride. I still talk to my partner in hope, who just turned 65 at the beginning of this year. Overall, it is a great ride for a great cause!
2. The Hot Chocolate Run for the Ronald McDonald House
I am doing this run for the first time on Sunday. I am so excited. I mean, who doesn’t want to eat a bunch after a run??? Not to mention, a portion of your registration goes to help kids that need it because they donate money to the Ronald McDonald House,
3. Walk Now for Autism Speaks
Autism Speaks is changing the landscape for families with a child on the autism spectrum. These walks offer a low-impact exercise way to make a difference
In specific cities…
4. The IJM Freedom tour
This bike ride from Seattle to Portland benefits International Justice Mission, and organization that is freeing slaves all over the world!
5. The Race to Restore
Every year in Atlanta, Wellspring Living holds the race to restore to raise money for their 6 programs that help survivors of sex trafficking.
And these are just five of the many, many that exist. Look up charity 5K walks and runs in your area, and I am sure you will find that there are many to choose from!
