Full disclosure… my suggesting for you to change the world through training a therapy dog makes me a hypocrite by default. I know myself enough to know that I would not be good at this, especially after learning how much it takes. However, I couldn’t resist writing about it after meeting a person yesterday who is training a puppy to be a therapy dog for an individual that suffers from PTSD. It also goes along with the Memorial Day theme of this weekend, considering that many combat veterans suffer from this silent disease.
Therapy dogs can help with a variety of illnesses and disabilities. Everything from blindness to depression can be helped through these amazing animals. But, it takes some patient, hard-working people to get these dogs ready. Not to mention, puppies are a whole lot of fun so it would be an enjoyable way to make a difference in a person’s life.
If this appeals to you, you can find out how to get involved here.
