There are so many ways to change the world over the holidays. Not to mention, it is more fun since virtually everyone is looking for a way to give in some way and be happy about it! I know that I’ve been so excited for this giving season, but now that it is here, I feel compelled to give in so many ways, over-scheduled, and overwhelmed.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.- 2 Corinthians 9:7
A cheerful giver. That’s not what Christmas is about, but it is part of what makes this season so special… cheer. So, why is it so hard? I honestly think it’s the pressure. For that reason, I want to encourage you to do two things.
- Show yourself grace. God knows your heart. Enjoy the time spent with others and the opportunities to give, without being pressured to take advantage of all of them
- When you give this holiday season, be in in time, money, or cookies, do it with CHEER. It doesn’t matter if you bring store-bought fruitcake or gourmet homemade gingerbread to a potluck, what matters is that you are there. Relax, enjoy, and be an agent of peace to celebrate the coming of the Prince of Peace
